• Here are Census details and my thoughts re Ellen! The question going around in my head.... where did a poor (?) woman get the money to set herself up as a Lodging House Keeper? She appeared to be working at a posh address in the 1851 Census and thereafter she is Head of her own establishment? Would it have been her house or rented? I cannot find her in the 1891 Census. In the 1881 Census she is still at 19 Charles Street, but listed as Unmarried and from Newbury, Berkshire. 1871 Census: 19 Charles Street, Kingsmead, Bath (Walcot, Trinity), Somerset. Ellen Lambourne, Head, W, age 53, a Lodging House Keeper, born Resemore, Berks (Peasemore, Berks?) In this census she has a Clergyman, his wifeand a granddaughter staying + a Servant - whose servent I don't know.The Clergyman's or Ellen Lambourne's servant. 1861 Census: 12 New KingsSt (? handwriting poor), Walcot, Kingsmead, Bath (Lansdown, District7 ) Ellen Lambourne, Head, Unmarried, age 44, a Lodging House Keeper,born, Berks, Peasmore) 1851 Census: 10 Royal Crescent, Bath, she was working for Richard Francis George, MRCS of England/LAC Lond - a Surgeon. Ellen Lambourne, Servant, Unmarried, age 32, a Cook, born Berks, Heasmore (Peasemore?). (Is there some convention whereby Servents should not be married?) 1841 Census: I cannot find her. ============================== Here are details on the death certificate for Ellen Lambourne - it is a very poor copy (faded).
